Private Cleveland enlisted Sept. 11, 1861, into the 14th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. He was assigned to Company H and served with it until his death. Private Cleveland served with the 14th Wisconsin at the Battle of Pittsburg Landing, known as the Battle of Shiloh, where the 14th Wisconsin earned the nickname of "The Wisconsin Regulars." Private Albert died of wounds on June 30, 1862.
