Private Christianson enlisted in December 1861. He joined the 15th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, Company F, commanded by Colonel Hans Christian Heg. Private Ole Christianson died of disease on May 20, 1862. At the time, he was on Island No. 10 on the Mississippi River, where the 15th Wisconsin fought valiantly a month before his death.
