More About Private Krenke

Private Krenke studied economics while he was at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He left school in June 1942 and enlisted in the service on Nov. 7, 1942.

Pvt. Krenke received his training in Texas and Pennsylvania and was sent overseas in 1943. He took part in the African Campaign and was involved in the invasion of Sicily before being assigned to join invasion forces in England.

He was killed in action during D-Day on a beach in Normandy.

He was posthumously award the bronze star and the Purple Heart.
