Private Allen enlisted in the Army on Nov. 6, 1943. He died in combat serving as an infantryman with the 104th division on Nov. 17, 1944. He was laid to rest at Silver Lake Cemetery in Portage, Wis. His brother Jack was also killed during World War II only 4 months and three weeks after his brother.
