More About Private Gardner

Private Henry Gardner enlisted into the Union Army on February 27, 1865, and was mustered in on the same day. He was attached to Company F of the 50th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment. The 50th marched through Missouri and Kansas before being sent to the Western Territories to keep peace after the war. While out west, Private Gardner died of disease on Sept. 22, 1865, at Fort Randall, Dakota Territory. He is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
