More About Captain Mentlik

During his time at the university, Captain Mentlik studied Journalism, served as the Badger Assistant Sports editor, and the Daily Cardinal desk editor and news editor. He played varsity baseball his sophomore year and varsity soccer his junior and senior years. Cpt. Mentlik also served on the House Presidents’ Council, the Chairman Scholarship Committee, the Pictures Committee for the Interfraternity Ball, and the Publicity Committee for Parents’ Weekend. He was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi. Before entering the service in 1941, Cpt. Mentlik was the editor of “The Exhibitor,” the New York State edition of a motion picture trade paper.

Captian Mentlik served with the Glider Infantry of the Airborne Division.
