More About Second Lieutenant Holmes

2nd Lt. Albert Ward Holmes graduated from Wauwatosa High School and then attended UW-Madison. During his time at the university, Holmes was a member of Sigma Phi. He enlisted June 6, 1942. He was killed when a damaged bomber collided with his plane mid-air during a large mission. Holmes served as the navigator on a plane flown by 2nd Lt. John Cary, the pilot, and 2nd Lt. Chester Swisher, the co-pilot. They and six other crew members died in the crash.
