First Lieutenant Milton Edward Connelly Jr. was born on Jan. 23, 1920, in Chicago, Illinois, to Milton and Margaret Connelly. He enlisted into the US Army Air Corps in January 1941 while in Chicago. He received his pilot wings and a commission as a 2nd lieutenant on Oct. 31, 1941. Connelly was transferred to the 9th Photography Squadron in Spokane, Washington, and promoted to 1st lieutenant in early 1941. He was killed on April 23, 1942, when the P-38 he was piloting crashed near Spokane, Washington. First Lieutenant Milton Edward Connelly Jr. is buried in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Cook County, Illinois.
