Aviation Cadet Cornelius Robert Christianson enlisted into the US Army Air Forces on July 31, 1942. He was inducted into the service on Feb. 6, 1942, at Gunter Field, Alabama. He trained as an Aviation Cadet with the 84th British Flying Training Squadron. While on training for instrument-only flight, A/C Christianson's plane broke apart midair, killing both him and his co-pilot, A/C Wesley C. Dearborn. Aviation Cadet Cornelius Robert Christianson is buried at the Scandinavian Cemetery in Bloomer, Wisconsin.
