More About Second Lieutenant Bachhuber

Second Lieutenant Andrew John “Jack” Bachhuber enlisted Dec. 20, 1941, and was a flight instructor at Townsend, Georgia. He was assigned to the 502nd Fighter-Bomber Squadron, 85th Fighter-Bomber Group and was sent to Harris Neck Army Airfield in Georgia. While there, he served as a flying instructor. He was killed on Nov. 15, 1943, when he was involved in a mid-air collision while piloting a P-39Q Airacobra aircraft.
