More About Second Lieutenant Walthers

Robert E. Walthers, second lieutenant, United States Army Air Corps, was the navigator on a B-17 plane that was on a mission over the Bay of Biscay. The plane was noted to have exploded, and no parachutes were observed. Robert was determined to be "missing in action", and no recovery of his remains was ever made. Our thanks to Second Lieutenant Walthers's sister Janet R. (Walthers) Bursek of Manitowoc, Wis., for sharing her brother's story.
