Private Crawford was born around 1834 to Samuel and Seponia Crawford in Brookfield, Madison County, New York. He married Lucinda Eager on July 5, 1852, in Clayville, Oneida County, New York. Private Crawford enlisted into the 22nd Wisconsin Infantry on Aug. 12, 1862, and was assigned to Company "E." Private Crawford died on Feb. 13, 1863, in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time of his death, he was being treated at General Hospital No. 3 but succumbed to disease while there.
