Sergeant Martin served at Duc-Co special forces camp on the Cambodian border as the junior medic. He voluntarily took part in many dangerous missions. Eventually his special forces team was forced out of Duc-Co on February 2, 1967, and he died just two months later of multiple fragmentation wounds.
