Captain Williams was company commander of an overseas chemical battalion. On June 10, 1944, Capt. Williams, Commander of Company D, was killed when an enemy anti-personnel airplane bomb landed approximately one foot from him while he was going from the 1st platoon to the 2nd platoon in order to inspect positions.
