Private First Class Wendroff studied Advertising while at the university. He was active in the Daily Cardinal for a majority of his school career and served as an Associate Business Manager his senior year. He was also a member of Phi Epsilon Pi.

Pfc. Wendroff died from thiamine deficiency at Cabanatuan POW Camp while a Japanese Prisoner of War in the Philippine Islands. After the war, his remains were buried at the American Military Cemetery (Fort William McKinley) in Manila, Philippines.
