George Jacob Wachal

Second Lieutenant Wachal enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 2, 1942 in Stevens Point, WI. At the time of his enlistment, he noted being employed as a shipping and receiving clerk. He served as a Bombardier on B-17G, #42-31566. 2d Lt. Wachal's B-17 was hit by German flak and crashed into the North Sea during the war. He was not declared dead by the military until February 11, 1945, a year after he went missing.
