More About Corporal Skottestad

Corporal Skottestad was a radio gunner aboard a B-24 Liberator and had taken his training at Gulfport, MS, Scott Field, IL and Lincoln, NE. Prior to being deployed to the European Theatre, he was stationed at Hendricks Army Airfield. This was a training base for four-engine heavy bomber flight crews. Cpl. Skottestad was one of nine airmen killed when a U.S. Army Air Corps B-24J Liberator collided mid air with another bomber and crashed 10 miles southeast of the Mountain Home Army Air Base, ID.
