More About Colonel Sherr
During his 22 years of service, Colonel Sherr saw action in many parts of the world. He was attached to General MacArthur's headquarters as an expert on Japan and the Japanese language. He also accompanied General MacArthur on his historic dash through enemy lines from Corregidor to Australia. He was attached to the American embassy at Tokyo from 1931 to 1935.
Col. Sherr was killed while riding in an army plane that crashed and burned 2 miles from a Calcutta airport.
