Technical Sergeant Rockwell enlisted May 11, 1942 in Manchester, NH. Rockwell served as a technical sergeant and top turret gunner on B-17 "Visiting Fireman". T Sgt. Rockwell was declared Missing in Action after the B-17 he was flying in (42-29882) was shot down by an enemy fighter and crashed into the English Channel. He is now memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Cambridge American Cemetery in Cambridgeshire, England. He was award the Air Medal and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
