More About Private Clausing

Private Clausing enlisted in the fall of 1917 and originally departed with the third contingent of Ozaukee County honor men from Port Washington on November 19, 1917. He was then sent to Camp Custer where he became a member of Company D, 340th Infantry before being sent to Camp Green in North Carolina with Company B, 58th Infantry, 4th Division. Next he was moved to Camp Mills in New York where he was ordered overseas in May, 1918.

Pvt. Clausing died when the “Maldaria” was sunk in the English Channel by a German submarine.
