Technical Sergeant Hays enlisted July 9, 1942. Tech Sgt.Hays went overseas in October 1944. He served as a gunner and radio operator on a B-17.
Tech Sgt. Hays was awarded the Silver Star and is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Florence American Cemetery in Florence, Italy.
