More About Commander Hanson

Commander Hanson served as a Radio Officer in the U.S. Navy during WWI. After the war he attended and graduated from the university in 1924.

After graduating, Commander Hanson served as the Chief Radio operator for Admiral Byrd’s first Antarctic expedition from 1928 to 1930. During WWII he served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy before dying in the line of duty.

He was killed in a plane crash somewhere in Alaska. His body was reinterred at the Arlington National Cemetery on October 1, 1948.
