More About Captain Fritts

Captain Fritts was held as a prisoner of war in the Philippine Islands.

In December, 1944, he boarded the Oryoku Maru for Japan. American planes attacked the ship not knowing that there were POW aboard. Upon realizing this, they waited until the POW escaped the ship to sink it. Capt. Fritts then boarded the Enouru Maru that eventually reached Takao, Formosa. It was during this trip that Captain Fritts died.
