More About Technical Sergeant Buell

Technical Sergeant Theodore Robert Buell was still a student at UW when he enlisted into the US Army on March 17, 1943. He was assigned to E Company, 309th Infantry Regiment, 78th Division. He likely fought through the Rhineland and Ardennes-Alsace Campaigns. According to hospital records, T/Sgt Buell was wounded by artillery fire in March 1945 but discharged back to active duty. It must have only been a short while later when, on March 21, 1945, T/Sgt Buell was killed in action in Germany. His unit was inactivated just a month later. Theodore's body remained overseas until Dec. 19, 1947, when he was brought back to his family in Mukwonago. He is interred at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
