Private Robert Marion Brody enlisted into the US Army on March 5, 1942, at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. In 1943, he was stationed at San Fernando, California, with HQ Company, 174th Infantry Regiment. He was transferred to L Company, 22nd Infantry Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division and was sent to the European theater. The 22nd landed on Utah Beach as part of D-Day and fought their way through France in the Normandy Campaign. Private First Class Brody was killed on Aug. 4, 1944, when his regiment attempted to capture St. Pois, France. He is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial in Brittany, France.
