More About Aviation Cadet Blewett

Aviation Cadet Pierre Joseph Blewett enlisted into the US Navy Reserve on Aug. 3, 1940, and entered as an apprentice seaman. He was still a junior at UW-Madison when he enlisted. On June 16, 1941, he was promoted to midshipman. Later that year, on Sept. 12, 1941, he was promoted to ensign. On Dec. 24, 1941, he became an aviation cadet and began training. While at Naval Air Station Jacksonville in Florida, Blewett's scout plane crashed during training. He succumbed to his injuries on June 4, 1942. Pierre Blewett is buried at Calvary Cemetery in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
