While a student, Lieutenant Junior Grade Bierman studied economics. He served two terms on the Lodging House Council, was part of the Men’s Dormitory Cabinet, and was the president of the House Presidents’ Council during his senior year.
He served in the Battle of Iwo Jima on board the USS Bismarck Sea.
LTJG Bierman was buried at sea after being killed during a sinking of an an aircraft carrier and is now memorialized at the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial in Honolulu, Hawaii.
