More About Second Lieutenant Andersen

Lieutenant Andersen enlisted November 1942, was commissioned in July 1943, and left for overseas in September. He was assigned to Company E, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Regiment. He rose the ranks to second lieutenant by the time he was killed in action on Nov. 8, 1944, in Belgium. Lieutenant Andersen was killed in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest and interred overseas until he was brought back to Wisconsin where he is now interred in Whitewater, Walworth County.
