More About First Lieutenant Noble

First Lieutenant Noble died of infection following wounds received near the Ourcq River in the American advance northeast of Château-Thierry on July 28, 1918. Although he had been wounded at the beginning of the action, he refused to be evacuated and remained in command of his platoon until ordered off the field by his superior officer in the late afternoon. He was awarded a Distinguished Service Medal before his death.
